Our History & Evolution
1950s
The original American Language Centers were established in Rabat and Tangier by the United States Embassy and the United States Information Service (USIS) to teach English as a foreign language in Morocco.
1970s
To transition into an independent, non-governmental entity, the American Cultural Association (ACA) was legally formed under Moroccan law as a bi-national, non-profit organization.
1983
The Arabic Language Institute in Fez (ALIF) was established at ALC Fes, providing world-class Colloquial Moroccan Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic instruction to visiting students worldwide.
Present Day
The ACA network has expanded to 12 centers across Morocco, serving tens of thousands of students annually through language instruction, teacher training, community service, and cultural programs.
