Young Learner Programs (Junior Classes)

For teenagers aged 10 to 15, ALC Tangier offers a young adolescent (‘Junior’) program. Junior classes meet once a week for three hours or twice a week for an hour and a half. Students come from different backgrounds and different schools. Some may have studied English before while others may not.
Students must enter the Junior program at the beginning of the school year. Registration usually opens on September 1st for new students. Current students are given first choice of schedules and may re-enroll at the end of the school year or during the summer (May – July).
To supplement a course book specially designed for teenagers, teachers use games, songs, and other activities. Periodic summative and ongoing, in-class formative assessment are used to gauge learners in all four skills – speaking and listening, reading and writing.  The learners need to score a minimum of 55/100 to pass to the next level.
ALC Tangier offers clubs along with indoor and outdoor extracurricular activities to give learners a chance to practice English in different contexts.
